Welcome back, Bronchos!
I hope you had a great and restful summer. The school year kicks off on Monday, August 31, and I wanted to share some important information about our schedule and expectations for this year.
Monday & Friday Check-Ins
In addition to our Wednesday lab sessions, all Excel students will have a short virtual check-in with me every Monday and Friday. These meetings are only a few minutes long and are simply a quick opportunity for us to check in on your progress and make sure you have what you need.
I understand that some of you work during the day, so I want to provide as much flexibility as possible. I am sending out this Google Form for you to select your virtual check-in time preference. Available times will disappear as they are selected, so please complete the form sooner rather than later if you have a strong preference.
The time you select will become your regular Monday and Friday check-in time.
You have until Wednesday, September 2 to choose a time. If you have not selected a time by then, one will be assigned to you.
Wednesday Lab Sessions
We will have a virtual lab each Wednesday. These weekly labs will provide an opportunity for me to share important information, announcements, reminders, and other updates with all of my mentees. Because of the number of mentees assigned to me, the virtual lab will be offered at two different times based on your last name. Please plan to attend the lab time assigned to you:
- Last Names Beginning A–Mc — 9:00–9:30 AM
- Last Names Beginning Me–Z — 11:00–11:30 AM
I will provide the Google Meet link for our virtual labs separately.
Half Days, No-School Days & Teacher Absences
This coming Monday — August 31 — is a half day, so we will NOT have our normal virtual check-in. Instead, I will post a communication prompt that morning at 8:00 AM that you will need to respond to before 11:00 AM.
Going forward:
- If Monday or Friday is a half day, I will post a communication prompt instead of holding check-ins.
- If there is no school on a Monday or Friday, we simply will not meet that day.
- If I am absent, I will post a communication prompt that you must respond to by 1:00 PM.
Check Your Email Every Day
Finally, it is your responsibility to check your school email every morning. I strongly recommend downloading the email app on your phone and turning on notifications. Because Broncho Virtual is a flexible program, communication is extremely important. You need to know when I have sent you information, changed a meeting, or posted something that requires a response.
