About Mr. Carpenter 🍎

Mr. Carpenter has been a teacher at Holly Area Schools since October 2026. Currently, he teaches all Social Studies courses at Broncho Virtual School. In his 25 year career, he has previously taught in-person (Honors) Civics, (Honors) Economics, World History & Geography I/II, Psychology, World Geography, Practical Law, Criminal and Civil Law, 8th Grade Social Studies, 6th Grade Social Studies, 8th Grade Newspaper, and AP® Microeconomics with Clintondale Community Schools (Clinton Township, Michigan).

Throughout his career, Mr. Carpenter has received numerous honors. He was named the 2009 CHS Outstanding Teacher of the Year. In April 2003, he was recognized as a "Macomb Teacher of the Week" by the Detroit News and listed in "Who's Who Among America's Teachers" in both 2004 and 2005. Additionally, he was selected as Grand Marshal by the CHS Student Congress for the 2004 and 2011 Homecoming parades.

Beyond his teaching duties, Mr. Carpenter has actively participated in several extracurricular life of the Clintondale community. From 2002 to 2005, he served as an assistant coach for the Dragon football program, moving from the Freshman team to Varsity. He was co-sponsor of the Clintondale High School classes of 2006 and 2012. Mr. Carpenter served as CHS Quiz Bowl advisor for 14 years and twelve years as Social Studies Department Chair at Clintondale.

Mr. Carpenter graduated from DeWitt High School (DeWitt, Michigan) in 1995 before attending Michigan State University (East Lansing, Michigan). He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Social Science - Public Policy Studies (1999) and a Master of Arts in Curriculum and Teaching (2005) from MSU. He is a proud Spartan fan, regardless of the outcome of any season or game, believing even the worst losing season can be salvaged by beating the university of michigan.

Outside the classroom, Mr. Carpenter enjoys spending time with his wife, Anna, his daughter, Maryn, and their Beaglier dog, Izzo. His hobbies include camping, golf, tennis, reading, watching television, trivia, and spending time with family and friends.
